On this tour you will enjoy riding on two different local railway lines. Your destination is a Duddhist temple, located in the beautiful rural mountains in Inabe.

First, you take a rare and narrow gauge railway, and the trains are small and very cute! While riding the train you will enjoy nostalgic and tranquil scenery, especially around Inabe city.

After arriving at Ageki train station, it is recommended that you have lunch at a local restaurant serving delicious traditional Japanese cuisine, including popular broiled eel dishes.

The temple you visit is a unique temple where you will experience traditional Japanese culture. It is one of the rarest and oldest temples in Japan. The main garden in front of the temple dates back to the 8th century Heian period. The reflecting pond continues to be well-maintained and is filled with natural mountain water.

This temple is periodically providing authentic Japanese experiences: zazen, a meditation-like Buddhist practice, shakyo, the hand-copying of sutras, and Buddhist carving.

Additionally, for foreign visitors, this temple is providing these Japanese cultural experiences: zazen practice in English using English sutra, Japanese calligraphy, and buckwheat noodle making. If you are interested in any of these Japanese cultural experiences, please ask your guide. The guide will hear your preferences and coordinate a special tour for you.

When returning to the starting point, you will take another local train.
This railway was established by the two biggest cement companies in the Showa period as a freight railway for transporting limestone. In recent years it has been converted to a passenger line.

The starting station, surrounded by mountains, has traditional old-style steam locomotives which constantly attract sightseers, hikers, and train enthusiasts.

Please come and enjoy this temple and its numerous unique attractions and experience in this beautiful mountain area.

*For more detailed information on experiences schedule, fees etc., the reference link will be provided on the page of this temple, which will be available after purchasing this tour.)
